Tigers & Snow Leopards
Sat. 6/4 9a: This time on The Children's Hour we learn about two of the most endangered big wild cats: tigers and snow leopards. The Kids Crew visit with the Senior Carnivore Keeper at the ABQ Biopark, Casey Taylor who teaches us basic tiger facts, and what is stressing them in the wild. We also hear from Sarah Vogel at the World Wildlife Fund about how each one of us can impact conservation of tigers in our everyday purchases.Snow leopards are elusive and difficult to study. Marissa Niranjan from the Snow Leopard Trust explains the unique challenges these big cats face as their range and numbers in the wild are greatly diminished. To research snow leopards, scientists study high resolution photographs of the mountains in their range to track and study the cats' movements, family groups, and hunting patterns. Visit https://childrenshour.org/tigers to see if you can find the snow leopards in the photos.Mixed with great music, learn about tigers and snow leopards with The Children's Hour!

Let's Talk waiving behavioral health copays in New Mexico
While you may have heard that the state did away with out-of-pocket costs for behavioral health care this year, the new law doesn’t apply to most insurance plans New Mexicans have. This week on Let’s Talk New Mexico, we’ll discuss why that is, and help clarify who and what is covered under this new policy, and why waiving these kinds of copays is so important. We’ll also hear about how employers not subject to the law are working to support employee mental health.

Let's talk about how the legacy of January 6th is changing politics in New Mexico
As the January 6th hearings come to a close, the fallout from the Capitol riot and lies about the 2020 presidential election are continuing to influence New Mexico politics. From the actions of state politicians who joined in the effort to overturn the 2020 election, to calls for greater voter restrictions, to the Otero County Commission’s refusal to certify the results of June’s primary elections, it’s clear that our state’s political landscape has changed.

Let's Talk about the impact of alcohol on New Mexico
We hear a lot about drugs like opioids, fentanyl and meth in New Mexico. But another substance is involved in more deaths than all of those drugs combined: Alcohol. It kills New Mexicans at a higher rate than anywhere else in the country, but laws taxing or limiting alcohol have been tough to pass. On the next Let’s Talk New Mexico, we’ll discuss a new multipart series by New Mexico in Depth that explores the toll alcohol is taking on our citizens.
